We communicate our science strategy and research outcomes accurately, and honestly, and embed engagement throughout our research and innovation programmes.
We provide support (guidance, opportunities and resources) to our research staff and conduct a programme of initiatives targeted at communicating our strategy and outputs to different audiences. Through engaging with them we build collective understanding of the societal benefits and impacts of our science.
Our public engagement activities are varied but include: public events and displays; hosting visits and other on-site engagement activities; public dialogues and the development, wide use and dissemination of bespoke communication and engagement materials. Through these means our scientists highlight the value of research and innovation and their role and responsibility in generating evidence.
Through our public engagement programme we aim to support local schools by offering visits and open days that give students a chance to meet and interact directly with our scientists
We are always transparent regarding our work and consider and acknowledge diverse points from groups voicing concern, engaging with them in two-way communication in an organised manner wherever possible.
