The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Sustainable Soils and Crops
Petros is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher focusing on plant nutrition research and particularly on wheat nitrogen use efficiency and the micronutrient content of wheat grain.
He completed his PhD at Rothamsted Research and the University of Nottingham supervised by Malcolm Hawkesford and sponsored by Timac Agro International. During his PhD, he focused on the role of strigolactones in the regulation of wheat architecture in response to nitrogen availability. His work included gene expression analysis, generation of wheat mutants by utilizing wheat TILLING lines and RNA-sequencing studies.
Currently, Petros is part of the Delivering Sustainable Wheat (DSW) strategic research programme.
His research aims to identify novel genes underpinning nutrient use efficiency. His research includes the screening of wheat germplasm, bioinformatic analysis and a wide range of molecular techniques.
