The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Protecting Crops and the Environment
Luca is a PhD student interested in the interactions between fungal pathogens and wheat. She graduated from the University of Bath in 2019 with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Biology. During her undergraduate degree she spent a year in Neil Brown's lab, investigating nutrient sensing in the cereal pathogen Fusarium graminearum. She is currently a BBSRC-funded University of Nottingham DTP student based at Rothamsted Research. During her three rotation projects she is investigating: effector protein expression in Zymoseptoria tritici; interactions between the wheat microbiome and Z. tritici; and F. graminearum genes required for disease.
