The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Sustainable Soils and Crops
Laudelino is interested in researching climate-smart solutions that increase soil carbon sequestration and climate resilience. His PhD project focusses on intercropping systems and their role on building carbon stocks, stabilization of carbon into soil organic matter fractions and persistence of carbon in tropical soils in Brazil. He also uses process-based modelling to investigate current and future climate impacts on carbon dynamics. Having grown up in a smallholder farm in Brazil, he has first-hand experience of the challenges faced by farmers and hopes his research will contribute to more sustainable food production systems.
