Protecting Crops and the Environment
Alina is a PhD Student in the Wheat Pathogenomics Team based at Rothamsted Research. She is working in collaboration with Nottingham University as part of the BBSRC DTP scheme. Her research project is investigating nonhost resistance against Zymoseptoria tritici. In line with her project aim, she learnt a new hobby since the start of her PhD; that of fishing for plant immune receptors by using co-receptors as ‘bait’. Previously she worked towards characterisation of root MLO genes to enable breeding for beneficial Arbuscular Mycorrhizal interactions as part of her MSc at JIC and UEA.
