The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Achilleas graduated in Veterinary Medicine with the main focus on food safety, quality, animal productivity and welfare. For this reason, he continued his studies by focusing on food technology and quality assurance to gain an overall view on food microbiology, safety and quality. His dissertation project was an investigation of unknown lactic acid bacteria, used as starter cultures for ensiling maize, to observe how they will affect the microflora of the silage. After his Master's, he worked for a food production company for a year and a half to apply his knowledge to the food industry. However, he now continues his studies for a PhD at both the University of Bristol and Rothamsted Research, with the focus on silage quality and animal performance.
