The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
For over 180 years engaging and collaborating with others has been at the heart of what we do. We strive to close the gap between industry and academia and accelerate innovation to deliver meaningful impact for all. At Rothamsted Research we believe that the big challenges facing society can only be met if we work together.
We have a track record in working with other academic researchers, policy makers, non-governmental organisations and businesses to exchange ideas and expertise and translate our research into solutions that meet the needs of industry and society. We are a truly multidisciplinary organisation.
Perhaps you are interested in jointly applying for funding? Or perhaps seeking answers to questions that can be solved by collaborative research? In developing closer links between business and academia we aim to help deliver solutions to global agri-food challenges.
Solving the biggest challenges in global agriculture requiring a long term approach. We listen and work with strategic partners, who share our commitment, to achieve common goals for the future of food security and take big ideas through to impact.

Rothamsted has a number of innovations suitable for partners to take forward into the marketplace. Some of our exciting technologies are below. We’d love to talk to you about your interests.
Please contact Rob Hill for more information.
Using cutting-edge genetics, Rothamsted scientists led by Professor Johnathan Napier have developed a variety of the oil seed plant Camelina sativa that produces the long-chain Omega 3 oils EPA and DHA. These have proven health benefits for humans, but can normally only be found in the oceans. Our technology allows these oils to be produced on land for the first time in partnership with the US based company Yield 10 Boscience.
Working with Oxford University, Rothamsted scientists led by Dr Matthew Paul have identified a new way of significantly increasing yield and resilience in crops and created the biostimulants company SugarOx. This technology has the potential to contribute to our efforts to help feed the world’s increasing population. Our T6P biostimulant technology is licensed to SugaROx on a world-wide exclusive basis.
Rothamsted scientists led by Dr Mike Birkett are at the forefront of research into novel attractants and repellents for insects. This has led to a number of novel pest control technologies currently being developed by the spin-out company Pherosyn
